The operator of Nord Stream 2, Nord Stream 2 AG, announced the completion of the construction of a 2.6 km pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Germany, DPA reports. In mid-January, it is planned to start laying pipes along two parallel branches of Nord Stream 2 in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark.
Nord Stream 2 AG promised to inform about future plans "in due time". “We cannot report on other details,” the message says (quoted by TASS). At the end of 2019, the Swiss Allseas, whose vessels Pioneering Spirit and Solitaire laid the last section of Nord Stream 2 near Bornholm Island, withdrew their pipelayers following US threats to impose sanctions on the company. Gas pipeline construction resumed on December 11. The Danish Maritime Agency announced last week that the Russian pipelayer Fortuna could begin laying Nord Stream 2 in the Danish Exclusive Economic Zone from January 15, 2021.
