Exhibition «Yuri Annenkov. Revolution at the Door» is a unique exhibition, collected bit by bit at the Museum of Russian Impressionism is dedicated to the artist Yuri Annenkov, whose career spanned most of the 20th century.
Yuri Annenkov is one of the most expensive Russian artists. A painter, stage designer and great experimenter, he is the author of the most famous portraits of Maxim Gorky and Anna Akhmatova.
His creativity conveyed the vehement and turbulent period of Russian history of the first half of the 20 th century. The exposition includes the most significant trends of his art in Russia and after his migration to France in 1924.
This is a truly one-of-a-kind exhibition, which brings together Annenkov's works scattered across many collections in different countries. Among them are three works from the Pompidou Center in Paris, the famous series of portraits of politicians and cultural figures, and his illustrations for the poem "The Twelve" by Alexander Blok, thanks to which Annenkov became widely known.
