Festival "December Nights 2020": "Glory Hour" (online broadcast)
4.12.2020 21:08
Festival

The third concert of the festival is like a refrain in the classic five-part rondo. The name of the concert "Glory Hour" not only fully corresponds to the cast of performers, but, first of all, recalls the first anniversary of the December Nights in 1990, when the festival celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The program of this concert draws a "reverse perspective" from the 20th century to the 19th century, from the conservative Dmitry Shostakovich, who transgressed the "classical canons and rules" in the early 1920s, to the young Frederic Chopin, who followed the tradition of the "brilliant style" in his very first major compositions in the beginning of the 19th century and at the same time broke with it forever, having discovered completely new qualities of expressiveness.

The festival stars Denis Matsuev on the piano and chamber ensemble "Moscow Soloists" under the conductor ship of Yuri Bashmet.

When: 8 pm (Moscow time) on December 11, 2020
