Moscow May Be Older Than We Think

Moscow’s chronology is subject to changes – the city may be older than 859 years. Archeological diggings at former “Rossia” hotel’s site will help to find out the real age of the Russian capital.

Chief Moscow archeologist says the diggings at the historical site of Zariadie would become “the most significant object for archeological studies for the next 1,5 years”. First findings are pieces of the 18th century icon and items dated back to 12th century.

Findings made archeologists conclude that Moscow was once the ancient feudal city and could be much older that a thousand years. Another proof of this hypothesis is a vast collection of coins, some of which are as old as the Roman empire.
