By the end of the year, the Russian food delivery market may reach 258 billion rubles: growth will reach a record 47%, according to RBC Market Research. The increase in the role of delivery will be influenced not only by the current situation, but also by the reduction of catering.
Researchers expect the shipping sector to account for 19.7% of market turnover this year, up from 10.5% last year. At the same time, traditional catering will decrease by 21.3%. “The pandemic has accelerated the consumer shift, many new users have come to delivery, they have adopted new digital habits over the months of restrictions and are in no hurry to abandon them even after the quarantine measures have been softened,” Dmitry Masyuk, CEO of Yandex.Eda, commented on the trend.
Due to the increased delivery market, aggregators have become the main beneficiaries. The largest of them - Delivery Club and Yandex.Eda - occupy about 27.7% of the delivery market now. For the first time, they occupied more than a quarter of the segment.
