The US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) "got rid" of 45 Russian ventilators that were supplied in April as part of a humanitarian exchange, BuzzFeed reports, citing an agency spokesman. According to media reports, the devices were not used due to technical problems.

Russia delivered ventilators and other medical supplies to the United States amid the coronavirus pandemic. FEMA   distributed them to hospitals. However, there were problems with the Aventa-M devices, and they were never used. The main reason is that they required an electrical voltage that was incompatible with American systems. In hospitals, they could not be used without an adapter. In addition, in Russia - Moscow and St. Petersburg - there were fires in hospitals that used these devices, several people became victims. The US has decided to stop using devices.

The transferred ventilators  were disposed of in accordance with strict regulations for the disposal of hazardous waste.
