"In relation to Furgal and four other defendants, a pre-investigation check is being carried out for involvement in crimes committed under the articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Murder ” and “Attempted Murder”. The crimes were committed in one of the villages of the Khabarovsk Territory, and their commission refers to the period of 2003 and 2004,” the source said. This applies to entrepreneurs who were engaged in scrap of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

      Mr. Furgal, elected governor from the Liberal Democratic Party, was detained on July 9 in Khabarovsk and taken to Moscow. He was arrested in the case of organizing the murders of entrepreneurs Yevgeny Zorya  in 2004 and Oleg Bulatov in 2005, as well as in the attempt on the life of businessman Alexander Smolsky.Due to the detention of the head of the region in the Khabarovsk Territory, actions are being held in his support. They do not stop for the third week. President Vladimir Putin dismissed Mr. Furgal in connection with a loss of confidence and appointed Mikhail Degtyarev, deputy of the State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, as the acting head of the region.
