An uncoordinated rally in support of the former governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergey Furgal took place in Khabarovsk. Residents of Vladivostok and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk also attended the rallies. Protests have continued since July 11, after Mr. Furgal was arrested on charges of organizing murders and assassination.
City dwellers gather in central squares and walk along the main streets. According to a Kommersant correspondent, the number of people who went out for the rally in Khabarovsk at the peak moments of the procession exceeded the record 50,000 last Saturday. Nevertheless, according to a Kommersant source in the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a report on 12 thousand participants will be sent to Moscow - the same amount was given by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on Saturdays, July 11 and 18. According to the Khabarovsk administration, about 3 thousand people first gathered on the square near the government building, and during the march, about 3.5 thousand more people joined the column.
Earlier, acting head of the region Mikhail Degtyarev said that he would go on a working trip to the north of the region at the weekend. In his opinion, the rallies are controlled by foreigners who remained after the closure of the borders in Moscow. The Kremlin believes that the protests in Khabarovsk were not organized by someone from abroad.
