Pancake Week, or seeing off the Russian winter, is traditionally considered the time when winter and spring, ice and warmth meet. It is also a celebration of the renewal of human relations, the honoring of new couples, newlyweds.
The Ethnomir Museum Park as usual celebrates Pancake Week on a grand scale. Two eleven-meter high straw dummies - Maslenitsa and Maslenik - will be made for the festival. The culmination of February 29 and March 1 will be their burning - the main ritual of farewell to winter, the transition to a new stage of life.
The festival is full of events: here they will bake pancakes, dance, sing, hold funny contests and ancient rites dedicated to the change of seasons and the revival of nature. DIY lovers and craftsmen will enjoy local handmade studios.
