Marc Chagall: Between Heaven and Earth - Exhibition in New Jerusalem

“Painting seemed like a window through which I flew to another world,”  - Marc Chagall used to say. This phrase perfectly describes the concept of the exhibition Between Heaven and Earth held in the museum and exhibition complex New Jerusalem near Moscow. The multifaceted exposition of 200 Marc Chagall artworks falls into three parts - “Earthly Life” (works of the first quarter of the 20th century), “Travels and Bridges” (second quarter of the 20th century) and “Heavenly Being” (second half of the 20th century).

For the first time in Russia, his 22 sketches for biblical paintings and etchings and 105 hand-painted engravings on the gospel theme are on display.

The pictures and paintings by Marc Chagall are complemented with household items and religious goods, encaustic tiles and luboks from the collection of the New Jerusalem Museum.

Where: New Jerusalem Museum at the address 1, New Jerusalem Embankment,  Istra, Moscow Region.

      When:  from November 16, 2019 to March 8, 2020.
