Chinese Tourists Prefer to Buy Amber and Cosmetics in Russia

Almost a third of the financial transactions of Chinese tourists in Russia fell to amber and cosmetics, according to the press service of the Sendy payment system. Sendy, together with the Evotor IT Company, acts as the provider of the Chinese WeChat Pay and Alipay payment services.

      Tourists from China made purchases in Moscow for an average amount of 24.6 thousand roubles each during the nine months of 2019. Amber and cosmetics (30%) were the most popular goods.

      The top five also included jewelry (12%), souvenirs (8%), alcohol (6%) and chocolate (5%).

      At the same time, tourists’ expenditures in Russian regions were lower. Thus, the average bill of WeChat users in St. Petersburg made up 19.9 thousand roubles, in Vladivostok - 13.6 thousand, in Khabarovsk - 12.4 thousand, in Yekaterinburg - 10.8 thousand, in Blagoveshchensk - 9.5 thousand, in Novosibirsk - 8.8 thousand roubles.
