Ivan Pokhitonov is a renowned Russian master of landscape painting of the first half of the 19th century.
His works surprisingly combine a poetic way of looking at things and a demanding attitude to painting. Over the years, he developed his own style of miniature painting that wonderfully conveys the characteristic features of the surrounding nature.
The exhibition dedicated to his 170th anniversary will be held in the State Tretyakov Gallery from October 31, 2019 to February 09, 2020. Visitors are welcomed to the wonderful world of Ivan Pokhitonov’s miniature painting inspired by the nature of Russia, Italy, France and Belgium.
