Cruise shipping on the Volkhov River in Leningrad Oblast has been resumed.

The “Sergei Yesenin” ship running on the route Moscow - Veliky Novgorod  - Moscow made a test call to the town of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, becoming the first large-class passenger ship to make a stop in the town, as the press service of the regional government reports.

The construction of a pier in Kirishi was completed at the end of July; it has been carried out by the technology of installing light piles into the bottom of Volkhov. The length of the pier makes up almost 90 meters. The piers in Staraya Ladoga, Svirstroy, Orekhovy Island at the source of the Neva and in Dubrovka have already been built and are operating. The construction of a pier in the village of Gruzino in Novgorod Oblast is underway.
