The Maps.me map-making service has made up a ranking of the Russian regions that were most popular among foreign tourists in the spring of 2019.
The ranking was compiled based on the number of downloads of Russian maps by foreign users from March 1 to May 31. Just like in winter, the most attractive cities and regions for foreign tourists in spring were Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Adygea and Rostov Oblast. Sverdlovsk Oblast and the Republic of Tatarstan have maintained their positions - they occupy the sixth and seventh lines of the ranking, respectively.
Smolensk Oblast became more popular than earlier: the region has risen from the ninth to the eighth place. The top 10 was closed by Voronezh Oblast and the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Chelyabinsk Oblast has left the top 10 of the most attractive regions for foreign tourists. Alongside with this, the second half of the list included the “newcomers” of the ranking: the Stavropol Territory, Tula and Pskov regions, as well as Kaliningrad, Vladimir, Samara, Tver, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk regions.
