Do you know what anamorphosis is? What distinguished toys of the XVIII century from modern ones?
These and many other questions will be answered at the exhibition "Dolls and Toys. History and Modernity" at the Alexander Pushkin State Museum, Moscow.
The exposition features dolls and toys from the museum funds as well as from private collections. Each presented item is a reflection of its epoch with particular culture, values, and ethics.
The first section of the exhibition introduces European dolls of the XIX century.
The second part of the exhibition demonstrates the collection of the artist and illustrator T. Mavrina, and the third presents the collection of E. Gromova from Russia.
The exposition is complemented with children’s portraits painted over a century ago, and children’s books of those times.
