Russian companies were minimally involved in the transactions on the purchase of foreign business in the first quarter of 2019. The total amount of transactions amounted to 6.8 million dollars during this period; Maksim Filippov, a partner of the Department of Investments and Capital Markets of KPMG in Russia and the CIS, notes, this is “virtually equal to zero”.
The indicator of the first quarter of 2019 has become the second lowest in the last 20 years; only the indicator for the first quarter of 2017 was worse, when there were no such transactions at all.
In general, the amount of transactions with Russian participation fell by 45%, down to $ 4.5 billion, as compared to the same period of the previous year. The Senior Analyst at BCS Premier, Sergei Suverov, linked this trend to the fact that consolidation in the main areas has been completed, and there are no new serious players yet.
