A year-round outdoor swimming pool will open at Luzhniki. The year-round outdoor swimming pool will work in the Water Sports Centre in Luzhniki thanks to the use of a unique sliding roof, as Marat Khusnullin, The Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Planning Policy and Construction, said.

      In the course of reconstruction of the building, a transparent aluminum roof with an area of about 7 thousand square meters was installed here: this roof has no analogues in Russia. Tests have been held recently, and they proved complete efficiency and safety of the system. Roof sections can move to the sides across the width of the building above the swimming pool”, - M. Khusnullin told to the reporters. He noted that the area of the sliding roof sections was about 1 thousand square meters.

      The swimming centre in “Luzhniki” is being created on the basis of the historical centre. The area of the water surface will be three times larger than that of its predecessor. The area of the building will amount to 58 thousand square meters.
