Russian Pavilion at Venice Biennale Visited by 10 Thousand People in 5 Days

The Venice Biennale is one of the world’s largest art shows; 79 artists from all over the world are going to take part in it this year.

The 58th Venice Biennale, which will be held from May 11 to November 24, 2019, focuses on the theme May You Live In Interesting Times.

This time The Best National Pavilion is Latvian, whereas the Special Prize of the Jury goes to the Pavilion of Belgium. The Russian Pavilion is in Top 5 national expositions.

This year, for the first time, the curator of the Russian pavilion is not an individual, but an entire organization represented by the Hermitage and its director Mikhail Piotrovsky.

Famous Russian film director Alexander Sokurov in collaboration with the students of the Repin Art Institute and artist Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai have authored the national exhibition "The Gospel of Luke 15:11-32". Their concept was implemented by the studios of the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater. The project is planned to be exhibited in the State Hermitage Museum, Russia, as well.
