Over 10 Million People Took Part in the “Immortal Regiment” March in Russia

Over ten million people joined the ranks of the Immortal Regiment in Russian cities. In total, 3.7 thousand events were held in this country in the framework of this tribute to the memory of veterans and victims of the Great Patriotic War.

It was reported by the representative of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, Irina Volk. She reminded that for the first time the action had taken place in Tyumen in 2007. Six years later, 120 cities joined it, and since 2015, the Immortal Regimen has embraced all the regions of Russia.

This year the number of participants in the Immortal Regiment has hit the record for this country. The offspring of the heroes took to the streets, walked through squares and mountains, rode bicycles, drove armored cars and even piloted airplanes, all with portraits of their ancestors.

The Immortal Regiment became the most important event of the celebrations in honor of the 74th anniversary of the victory over fascism. The most massive march took place in Moscow, and it was held in more than a hundred countries altogether.
