Golf on the bank of Volga

Yaroslavl region's government has started construction of the biggest in Russia golf clubs. Located in Uglich (around 200 km from Moscow), it is planned to be not only a place to play, but a large tourist complex with hotels, restaurants and a magnificent view on the Volga river. Two 8-hole and 16-hole golf fields, three cottage villages for guests, a horseracing school and yacht clubs will be created and equipped. The golf club is a joint project of Yaroslavl region's government and German investors.

Uglich is one of the oldest Russian city and attracts lots of tourists every year. A local tradition dates the town's origin back to 937. Many 15th to 18th century buildings can be seen in the city, including one of the most beautiful churches, the Assumption three-tented church of the Alexeievsky monastery.
