As a result of historical and cultural expertise, the former apartment building of Fyodor Plevako was recognized a cultural heritage monument.
The apartment building was constructed in 1905 by the project of Peter Mikini. The building is located at 18a Novinsky Boulevard and has four floors. The facades of the house are a well-preserved sample of northern Art Nouveau.
The peculiarity of the house was a bright panel of ceramic tiles on the main façade: the tiles were made according to sketches by the artist Mikhail Vrubel.
The largest ceramic panels are located on the bay windows above the entrances; smaller panels can be found un the niches under the balconies. The tiles were made in the pottery workshop of the industrialist Savva Mamontov. The tile was presented to the lawyer as a sign of gratitude for a case won by him in court. The light green stucco of the facade imitates the porous surface of uncut natural stone.
