Moscow ranked first in the world with regard to long traffic jams in 2018: a capital driver spent an average of 210 hours in traffic jams, according to the analysis conducted by an international company estimating global traffic by INRIX.
Nevertheless, Moscow drivers spent 12% less time in traffic jams than a year earlier. Experts analyzed traffic in 220 cities around the world. They collected data not only on road congestion, but also on the car speed at peak hours and throughout the day.
The second place went to Istanbul, where drivers spent about 157 hours in traffic jams during the entire year. The situation in the city has worsened, because in 2017 drivers spent in jams 6% less time.
The third place went to the capital of Colombia, Bogota - its residents spent 272 hours in traffic jams. These cities are followed by Mexico City (218 hours), São Paulo in Brazil (154 hours), London (227), Rio de Janeiro (199).
