The concert of Eric Clapton in Red Square, Moscow, expected on 3 August will not take place as the Kremlin authorities have cancelled the previously given permission to it.
The decision of the authorities came like a bolt from the blue; the mass media fail to give an intelligible explanation to it. Some state that the concert was cancelled by politicians who would not stand the show nearby graves of Soviet statesmen; other sources see the reason in the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the liberation movement against Polish invaders and the Day of Landing Troops to take place in the Red Square the day before the concert.
The cancellation of the concert of the legendary musician only four days before it was expected is a painful surprise to thousands of Russian fans. 'Eric Clapton is extremely sorry to disappoint his numerous Russian fans but the circumstances of the cancellation are completely beyond his control', the official site of the musician informs.
So the concert in Helsinki on 31 July turns the final show of the farewell tour of the 61 year-old musician.
