The faculty of geography of Moscow State University has started an interesting experiment. Traditional student education programme can soon include sky training – air-ballooning.
The head of the experiment – an experienced ballooner – assures that flight is safe, when wind velocity is about 3 m/s.
Geography students spend five years studying nature by means of maps, but their objects of study look totally different, when seen from above.
Teachers do their best to use photography in the education process. Air photographic survey is a common tool, but successful introduction of flights opens a new page in education.
The air balloon is expected to come from a sponsor, and gas requires minimum of funds. The hardest decision will be to choose the students, which amount to 200, who will participate in this kind of training.
