A craftswoman from Chuvashia has woven the smallest bast shoes in Russia, according to the portal of the administration of culture and tourism development of Cheboksary.
Elena Klementyeva, the craftswoman of the ethnocomplex Yasna, presented to the experts of the Russian Book of Records the smallest bast shoes (chetverik) with decoupage, their size is 10 x 7 mm," the report says. The record has been fixed earlier this week.
Bast shoes depict the Chuvash national ornament, which symbolizes several concepts: the house, the people and the development. Red colour means beauty, black is for land and the origin of the world. Bast shoes will be shown in the museum of the ethnocomplex.
