Mr. Medinsky Forgoes Royalty for his Novel

The funds will be allocated for charity purposes.

The Russian Culture Minister, Vladimir Medinsky will not take royalty for using his novel "The Wall" used for a stage production at the Maly Theater.

“I have given my novel and play to the theater and I know that the author's text is always dealt very delicately with at the Maly Theater. Though legislation does not oblige it, I have decided to forgo the royalty, as the theater is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture. It will go to charity”, - the minister said.

As Vladimir Medinsky emphasized, for him “it is a great honor that the novel will be the basis of a stage production at one of the oldest and most respected theaters in Russia”.

The adventure novel "The Wall" is based on real historical events that took place in Russia in the 18th century.
