The observatory “Arch” is aimed at establishing the mechanisms of the solar corona heating and studying the accumulation and release of the energy of solar flares. It is a complex of long-focus X-ray telescopes of high time and space resolution.
This device designed by the Lavochkin Research and Development Company (Russia) is planned to be set in a near-Earth orbit. According to the developers, it is going to help discover and investigate the microevolution of solar magnetic fields and plasma, establish the mechanisms for spreading of solar oscillations and transferring their energy to the lower and upper corona, study the connection between micro- and macro manifestations of the solar activity, and establish the energy of microflares, as well as their role in the formation of the hot corona of the Sun.
