Russian Solar Drone to Be Tested in Stratosphere

The first high-altitude drone aircraft vehicle is being prepared for launch.

Produced by the Lavochkin Scientific Production Association, Russia, it is going to be tested by the end of 2017.

According to the director general, Sergei Lemeshevsky, in order to fly to the stratosphere, a special registration license for the aircraft is required, as well as an official launch permit from the regional aviation authorities.

Note that the drone aircraft Aist (Stork) can fly all year round without having to land. The solar panels covering the surface of its wings will be charged by the sunlight.
