Virtually 45 percent of working Russians do not understand the purpose and meaning of the governmental economic policy. The actions of the state in the sphere of economy are understood by only 47 percent of citizens. These are the results of the survey conducted by the Monitoring Centre of the Institute of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The respondents understanding the governmental policy included wealthier Russians, most often working in the official economy sector. The purpose and meaning of government’s actions in the economy are most often not understood by the workers with low incomes working at the grey market. More than 43 percent of respondents believe that the state of the Russian economy is deteriorating. About 26 percent stated that nothing was changing, the same number of people have noticed signs of improvement and a significant recovery.
