The share of imported products in Russian stores has reached its historical minimum. According to the Federal State Statistics Service, the share of consumer goods of foreign manufacture in retail chains amounted to 33 percent in the second quarter of this year, and the share of food products amount to 21 percent.
Back in 2005 when the monitoring of the indicator started imported consumer goods accounted for 45 percent of the entire range, food products - for 36 percent. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explain the decrease in the share of foreign goods by the development of domestic production and the transfer of the capacities of foreign companies to Russia.
“The goods manufactured by the concerns move from the category of imported goods into the category of goods produced in our country. This is beneficial both for the country’s economy and producers” - the Ministry stated.
