Demand For Foreign Currency In Russia Increased

Net demand of Russia’s population for foreign currency in cash increased by 47 percent in July 2017, as compared to June. It grew up to 1.7 billion dollars.

      “At the same time, the growth of net demand was mainly due to the growth of the demand for dollars” - the regulator’s materials said. The amount of foreign currency bought by Russians in July made up $ 5.4 billion (plus six percent per month), the amount of the currency sold - $ 3.7 billion (minus five percent). “The number of transactions on the purchase of foreign currency in cash by physical persons increased by five percent, as compared to June, and amounted to two million transactions. An average amount of a purchase transaction increased by three percent and amounted to 1495 dollars” - the Central Bank noted.
