The head of the Ryazan region, Nikolai Lyubimov, initiated holding the First International Forum of Ancient Cities in the region, the press service of the regional government said on Wednesday. This proposal was supported during the meeting of the Council with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District on issues of tourism development.
The International Forum of Ancient Cities is planned to be held in Ryazan, which is one of the oldest cities in Russia, in August 2018. It is assumed that representatives of cities with an age of more than 500 years will take part in it. The program of the forum includes discussion of common problems and an extensive cultural program.
"There are no associations of ancient cities, but all of them have a lot of similar problems: this is the preservation of architecture, cultural traditions, crafts, gastronomy, and issues of urban development," N. Lyubimov noted.
