Russian ballerina Diana Vishneva has finished her dance career as a part of the American Ballet Theatre based in New York.
She first took the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in 2003 when as an invited soloist she performed her part in the ballet Romeo and Juliette. Two years later she became the prima ballerina and her repertoire in this theatere included Bayadere, Giselle, Romeo and Juliette, Manon, and Silvia.
In her last performance on the American stage she performed Tatyana's part in the ballet Onegin set to music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
"I was happy to work with this troupe, but after all these years it is time to say “good-bye” - Diana Vishneva said.
"Diana Vishneva is a Russian ballerina and the treasure of Russia, but at the same time she is the treasure of the whole world", - a member of the board of trustees of the American Ballet Theater, Theresa Kauli noted.
