Alexei Batalov, the People's Artist of the USSR died on the night of Thursday, June 15. The actor loved by many generations of Russian people will be laid to rest at the Transfiguration Cemetery in Moscow.
"Alexei personally asked me to bury him at the Transfiguration Cemetery, next to the grave of his mother,” - his friend, actor Vladimir Ivanov told.
Film director Nikita Mikhalkov is assisting in organization of the farewell ceremony.
As Vladimir Ivanov informs, Alexei Batalov died in sleep, at one of Moscow hospitals, where he had stayed for about five months after a cervical hip fracture.
Alexei Batalov starred in lots of films that have long become classics of the Russian cinema. Cranes Are Flying, Moscow Does not Believe in Tears, Nine Days of One Year, Purely English Murder, The Star of Captivating Happiness, and many others are among them.
