The first all-Russian festival ‘Panorama of Musical Theatres’ held in Omsk in June made this city a cultural capital of Russia on a par with St. Petersburg and Moscow.
For a whole month the festival brought together notable theatres from all over the country. Almost a thousand performers and as many guests from various countries of the world came to this Siberian city for a grand theatrical programme.
Italians opened the festival. Arena di Verona theatre gave a big concert of the best opera compositions by Verdi, Rossini, and Ponkielli. Galina Vishnevskaya’s Centre of Opera Singing performed Tchaikovsky’s ‘Iolanta’. The Siberian city was also visited by American conductor Martin Pyetsuh and soloists of the Moscow theatre ‘New Opera’.
The Perm Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Sverdlovsk Academic Theatre of Music Comedy, graduates of Bashkir Choreographical College, the Ural Conservatoire, and Sergey Obraztsov Puppet Theatre appeared on stage with their best productions.
The musical marathon was crowned with ‘Giselle’ by soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre.
The second festival will take place in Omsk in two years.
