In Gelendzhik on September 16 the environmental action to restore the inscription "Gelendzhik" on the top of the ridge Markotkhsky took place, the press service of the resort city administration reports. Anyone could take part in environmental actions.

      Inscription from stones and lime "Gelendzhik", which in the mid-1990s was posted on the site of the Soviet slogan "Lenin with us!" began to fade and overgrown by grass. In 2009, the inscription was restored by volunteers; the size of the letters was increased. The total area of the inscription was 2 thousand sq. meters, the height of each letter is 20 meters, and width is 10 meters. For comparison, the legendary Hollywood sign in the hills above Los Angeles is made up of letters with the height of 15 meters and 12 meters wide.
