Scientists: Amur Tiger Population Increased Over Last 10 Years

The number of the Amur tigers has increased over the last ten years. Specialists from the RF Nature Ministry have reported about it.


      According to scientists, growth of population of the Amur tigers only in the territory of Russia has made about 15 percent. Besides, thanks to introduction of new details in control of shooting this species the quantity of poaching cases has been significantly cut down.


      At present there are 523 – 540 tigers in the Russian Federation, with about one hundred kids among them. According to scientists, in case of similar weather conditions and due level of environmental protection the population will increase over 500 per cent by next decade. Now Russia plans to begin cooperation with China in the sphere of breeding the Amur tigers in artificial conditions.
