In honor of the 55th anniversary since man's first space flight, Roscosmos has declared 2016 the Year of Yury Gagarin.

      A number of the anniversary events and actions dedicated to the Russian astronautics will be carried out in this country in 2016. This year will also be marked with the first launch from Vostochny, the first civil spaceport of the Russian Federation. The events will be organized by the program Gagarin. Let's Roll! and its partners.

      Roscosmos has invited all those interested in space exploration to participate in the events of the Year of Yury Gagarin. The department also welcomes to send them text-, audio- and video works on the Russian astronautics. The best of them will be published.

      The man's first ascent to the orbit of the Earth took place on April 12, 1961. Yury Gagarin went down the history of world astronautics as the first man in the outer space.
