The Federal Scientific Organizations Agency has signed the relevant order.

      The National Marine Biology Research Center will be founded in Vladivostok as part of the Far East branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the administration of the Primorye Territory reports.

      The large-scale research will comprise the Zhirmunsky Marine Biology Institute of the Far East, RAS, the academic complex Seaside Oceanarium and the Far East Marine Biospheric State Nature Reserve.

      The main objective of the center is to combine intellectual and material resources in the field of marine biology for attaining the synergetic effect and new opportunities for solving fundamental and applied tasks related to research and preservation of the unique biological diversity.

      The National Marine Biology Research Center will become Russia's largest and one of the world's largest marine biology centers.
