MTS and “VympelCom” are preparing for sharing the frequencies of 2.5-2.7 GHz for the construction of LTE (4G) networks in 18 regions, in another 12 regions “MegaFon” will join the frequencies of the same range with its subordinate “Skartel”. This is reported by “Kommersant” with a reference to its sources in the companies and Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications.

Thanks to this, the subscribers will be able to increase the speed of mobile Internet, and the operators will save on joint operation of the infrastructure, as the newspaper writes. Roskomnadzor did not specify the regions in question. A year ago MTS and “VympelCom” (“Beeline” brand) agreed on joint deployment and operation of LTE networks in 36 regions of Russia. It was assumed that in the years 2014-2016 MTS would provide the construction of the jointly operated 4G networks in 19 regions, and “VympelCom”- in 17 regions.
