Nissan suspended the release of Nissan Tiida hatchback and reduced the production of Nissan Sentra sedan at the factory in Izhevsk, as “Vedomosti” writes. A company representative said that the decision was made due to a serious drop in demand for new cars in Russia. According to the publication, the assembly of Tiida was suspended in August, while the production of Sentra fell 10 times in October, as compared to February of this year.
Nissan claims that they do not intend to completely abandon the production of Tiida and Sentra, but they plan to resume the production only after a recovery in demand. The representative of the Russian subsidiary of the Japanese manufacturer could not name the terms in which this could happen.
The models are made at the Izhevsk “AvtoVAZ” site by the “Renault-Nissan” alliance owning a controlling stake in the Russian auto giant. 3400 units of Tiida and slightly more than 5000 units of Sentra have been released during 10 months of 2015.
