The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a government decree, according to which governmental authorities will have to purchase software from the special register of domestic software beginning from January 1, 2016.
Purchasing foreign products will be possible only in the absence of any Russian analogues. The Ministry of Communications has begun to develop a decree on the restriction of public procurements of foreign software in 2014 and introduced it to be signed by the government on June 30, 2015. It is noted that the ban on the purchase of foreign software for government’s and municipal needs is necessary “in order to protect the domestic market of the Russian Federation, develop the national economy, support Russian manufacturers”.
