The actions of Russia in Syria only aggravate the internal conflict in the country. This statement was delivered by the Secretary of Defense of the USA Ashton Carter, his words are quoted by Reuters.

      “By attacking moderate groups in Syria Russia contributes to the aggravation of the civil war” - the Head of the Pentagon said. He compared Moscow’s actions in support of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to chaining themselves to the sinking ship. On October 5 the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Turkey was handed a note of protest in connection with the fact that, according to Ankara, a Russian fighter had invaded the country’s airspace.

      On October 2 the USA, Great Britain, France, Germany, Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have warned Russia of their serious concern because of the intervention of Moscow in the Syrian conflict. They noted that it might lead to further escalation of violence.

      On September 30th Russian Aerospace Forces (ASF) began pinpoint strikes on the objects of the terrorist group “Islamic State” (IS) in Syria which is prohibited in Russia. 

      The operations began after the Russian President Vladimir Putin had received the mandate of the Federation Council on the use of the Armed Forces abroad Russia. The appeal for rendering military assistance to counter the Islamic State was received by Moscow from the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
