The Easter Sunday saw the grand opening of the 5th Easter Festival in the Big Hall of Moscow Conservatoire.
This year the festival is dedicated to two jubilees at once: the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birthday and the 100th anniversary of Shostakovitch's birthday. The latter's opera Nose will be performed tonight in the Mariinsky Theatre.
Mozart's two compositions 'The Crowning Mass' and 'Requiem' will be played on May 2 and 3 in Moscow.
The Easter Festival will take place in 20 cities of Russia, with symphonic orchestras, choirs, and bell ringing concerts.
