London is hosting the Russian Economic Forum, the largest economic event focusing on Russia and taking place outside of Russia.
      
      The ninth conference, organized by the Eventica company, has drawn around two thousand people, mainly businessmen, representatives of investment banks, analytical companies, and members of the UK Cabinet.
      
      There will be 20 plenary and workshop sessions, apart from informal meetings. The event is viewed as a showcase of Russian economy where the Western capital decides whether or not to invest in Russia within the next 12 months.
      
      London is considered as an outpost of Russian business in the West. Major Russian companies have listed on the London Stock Exchange. This year, another $100bn of securities are expected to be auctioned off at the London stock and financial markets. Russians also contribute 8% of the tourist expenses in London, according to Ken Livingstone, the city’s mayor.
      
      The Beeline company, one of Russia’s major cell phone operators, has confirmed it is the telecommunications partner of the event, while the Otkrytie company is one of the sponsors. The BBC will also present HARDtalk featuring its presenter Stephen Sackur. It is the first time the programme catering to some 60 millions viewers will be shot in front of live audience.
