According to the Underwriting Department of “AlfaStrakhovanie” insurance company, the most popular vehicles among car thieves in Russia are Land Rovers. This is stated in the analysis of the insurer’s own statistics of auto thefts for last year. The most frequently stolen car in Moscow from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015 was Land Rover Evoque (2,33% of the total number of car thefts), in regions - Land Rover Freelander (2,01%). Other popular cars include Infiniti FX (2,04%), Land Rover Discovery (1,84%), Toyota Land Cruiser (1,80%), Hyundai Solaris (1,65%), Land Rover Range Rover Sport (1,61 %), Mercedes G-Class (1,61%), Lexus LX (1,31%), Toyota Camry (1,30%) and Land Rover Range Rover (% 1,25).

      The top ten got rid of last year’s leaders - Subaru Legacy, BMW X7 and X6, as well as Mazda 3. The cars that are still often stolen in regions include Lexus LX (1,94%), Porsche Cayenne (1,24%), Nissan Murano (0, 98%), BMW X5 (0,96%), Mercedes Benz S-Class (0,92%), Mazda 3 (0.77%), VAZ 2110-12 / 2170 (0,55%), Toyota Camry ( 0.52%) and Toyota Land Cruiser (0,36%).

      According to the Head of Underwriting Department of the insurer Ilya Grigoryev, the technology of car thefts has not changed much in recent years. As it follows from the statistics, auto thefts in the first place threaten the owners of premium cars with the function of “comfort access”. Such cars are usually stolen “by order” or for repair parts, as the expert thinks.
