The volume of the goods imported to Russia has decreased 10 times after the signing of the decree on destruction of the products covered by the sanctions. This was stated by the Head of Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Sergei Dankvert, according to TASS.

According to him, the agency is in constant contact with the border; and the flow of such goods in Bryansk, Smolensk and Pskov regions decreased tenfold. The first batch of such products was destroyed on August 6. At the same time, in Dankvert’s opinion, we speak about the volumes that are not very large. “Hundreds of tons, but no more than several hundred” - he said. He added that the goods that were not allowed to be imported in Russia were destroyed in the past as well, so there is nothing new in this process. Dankvert specified that a significant number of problems were caused by the deliveries of substandard goods from Ukraine.

On July 29 the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on destruction of imported products which fall under the embargo. This measure affects agricultural products, raw materials and food imported from the countries that have imposed sanctions against Russian citizens and companies.
