The Federal Supervision Agency for Information Technologies and Communications has registered 640 bloggers for the year since the moment when the law obliging to include the authors of popular accounts into the corresponding register came into force. It is stated on the agency’s webpage on Twitter. In addition to the pages of well-known personalities, such as the actress and deputy of the State Duma Maria Kozhevnikova, the list includes communities as well. Thus, the register included the public pages “MDK”, “ЁП”, “Palata No. 6”, “Lentach”. On July 28 Roskomnadzor included the community of the TV presenter Dmitry Kiselev on “VKontakte” into the register of bloggers.

      The Law of Bloggers came into force in Russia on August 1, 2014. It obliges the owners of accounts in social networks and blogs with an attendance of more than 3 million people per day to register in the appropriate register of Roskomnadzor. The law has almost equated the bloggers to mass media: they must check the accuracy of the information, avoid using foul language and distributing extremist materials and data about the private lives of citizens.
