The Head of the Ministry of Agriculture Aleksandr Tkachev asked the Russian President Vladimir Putin to permit the destruction of the products coming under embargo right on the border. This was reported by RIA “Novosti”. The Head of the State agreed with the idea and commissioned the administration of the Kremlin and the government to work out the issue with lawyers. The Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also supported the proposal of Tkachev.

“I think the same stringent measures could be applied as it was once done in respect of sturgeon caviar” - he said. As Putin noted, the farmers continue to claim that the products under sanctions are still being imported to Russia. Tkachev acknowledged that “it happens – across the borders that we know, when third countries import products that are not grown directly on our neighbors’ territory”.
