The famous film director Vasily Pichul, aged 55, died in Moscow on Sunday, July 26.
Vasily Pichul gained wide fame with his cult film Little Vera (1988) about people living in the era of Perestroika and collapse of the Soviet Union.
Vasily Pichul was born on June 15, 1961. He graduated from Directors’ Faculty of the VGIK in 1983. Afterwards Vasily Pichul worked a lot in filming and on television. In particular, he directed the film The Sky in Diamonds, and telecasts Old Songs about the Main Thing 3, The Dolls, and won the TEFI Television Broadcasting Award.
As it turned out, Vasily Pichul suffered from lung cancer.
